Prayer Requests

Alliance Women Prayer Items October 2007

[Current month]

Prayer Tool (from the Christian and Missionary Alliance in Canada)
An inseparable link exists between prayer and fruitful ministry, since it is through our prayers that God has chosen to unleash his power. There are seven ways to help you pray more effectively for Alliance missionaries.

Joseph and Helen Lee, Guatemala
Praise the Lord for the Lay Pastoral Training with Rev. Andy Ching. The 11 students faithfully finished their assignments and learned much during the 5 days. Last year, City Hall issued a notice to their church that they were being fined for not having enough required parking and therefore without the approved construction license. Praise the Lord that they received the judgment from the court declaring them as a church, so no fines nor taxes will be levied against them. Prayer requests:
  1. Pray for Joseph and Helen Lee as they prepare for
    a. Lay Pastoral Training, Oct 8-12,
    b. a Thanksgiving Outreach Dinner, Oct 14,
    c. a Missions Conference, Oct 19-21
    d. an Annual Church Evaluation Meeting, Oct 28.
  2. Please pray also for good physical and spiritual health for Pastor Justin Tsui. Pray that he will have wisdom and discernment in ministry and alertness and humility as he learns what God has for him during his time in Guatemala City.
Bill and Ilana Lobbezoo, Cambodia
Prayer requests:
  1. Pray for them as they continue to give direction to the dorm ministry and the young leaders serving there.
  2. Pray for God’s clear direction concerning the future of this ministry.
  3. Pray also for the National Youth Committee and Bill’s involvement with them as they face considerable change in their leadership within the coming month. Pray that God through His national leaders will be able to target and raise up new leaders as the church moves ahead.
Dick and Karin Kaan, France
They are grateful to have a new co-worker from Calgary, Ms. Janet Sing, join their Paris ministry team. Prayer requests:
  • Pray for Janet as she reaches out to the Mandarin-speaking business people and their families living in Paris.
Anne Louie, Netherlands
Praise God together with Anne Louie that their church now has legal status in Holland. They became a member of the Alliance family as they signed the legal documents last week. Prayer requests:
  1. Pray for them as they plan for their 2008 campsite with the main theme of “Revival”.
  2. Pray that God will provide the necessary funds and that many people will attend.
Manjohn and Christina Wong, Netherlands
Prayer requests:
  1. Praise God that May Lyn has come back to the Lord. Pray that her faith will grow and that she will continue to follow Jesus.
  2. Pray that God will protect and sustain Manjohn and Christina as the enemy does all he can to harass them and the church.
  3. Pray that the church will grow in their relationship with the Lord and mature into faithful workers that will glorify His name.
Derek & Bonnie Burnett, Thailand
The Grace International School, the MK school which their children attend, has recently received a letter from some members of the community asking them to turn over the facilities so they can use it as a sports club. The mubaan (neighbourhood) committee has given the school until Nov 30 to either hand over the deeds to the land or have the matter turned over to Consumer Affairs to take to court. Prayer requests:
  1. Pray for the protection of Grace International School. Pray that the leaders of the school will seek Christ’s leading.
  2. Please pray that Christ will change men’s hearts and would at all time guard our words and our hearts that we may ONLY give glory to him!! Pray for Derek, personally, that he would not fear but walk in prayer and faith.
  3. Pray that Christ’s work will not be hindered in Asia because of this situation.
  4. Pray also that they will continue to be a testimony of love and grace to everyone involved.
Calvin and Pearl Lai, Germany
They’ve received the keys of the new church facility in Berlin, and their first worship service was held on Sept 23. Prayer requests:
  1. Pray that the new facility will enhance their ministries and help bringing more people to Christ, as well as for God’s provision for all the financial needs related to the rent and startup costs.
  2. Pray for God’s guidance in reaching out to the next generation, as they have a vision to provide sport activities for the teenagers. Pray for the right personnel and resources to start this youth ministry.
  3. Pray for the ministry to senior citizens (a group of elderly Chinese men, mostly retired restaurant workers from Hong Kong), as they are planning for a senior citizens center in their new facility. Pray for new Cantonese speaking co-workers who could minister to this group.
Lois Belsey, Home Assignment
She has been home in Canada since early Sept to have reunions with family, friends, supporters and prayers.
Prayer requests:
  1. The people in Papua and Indonesia (latest earthquake);
  2. Soleman, who looks after her home, will be faithful;
  3. Pray for the faithfulness and anointment of many pastors, evangelists and women who continue to serve God and their people, in all the places Lois visit;
  4. Pray for God’s solution to the Church split in Papua.
