Effective
Prayer
(from the Christian and Missionary Alliance in Canada) ∙ An inseparable link exists between prayer and fruitful ministry, since it is through our prayers that God has chosen to unleash his power. There are seven ways to help you pray more effectively for Alliance missionaries. |
| Jonathan and Ruth Teo (England) |
|
- Thank God that they obtained their visa. They got a three-month
tourist visa and travel in and out of the country while they wait
for a long-term visa. |
| Anne Stephens (Republic of Congo) |
|
Her ‘Conflict Management’ teaching is really reaching people where
they are in their lives. It’s great to see God working in hearts,
especially as they talk about family problems. - Please continue to pray as Anne talks about what the Bible says about solutions to specific problems. - Pray that the country will remain peaceful after the national elections in Congo on July 12. - Pray for Barb Sorensen who is on home assignment and holding the fort in Brazzaville. She's looking to God for guidance about what new ministries to get involved with this new term. |
| David and Fam Griffiths (Thailand) |
|
May and Nai have been doing very well in school. They are returning
to Canada for their mini-furlough in August and September.
- Please pray for the things that they need to do in the short time they are there; new passports, new health cards, renew David’s driving license, medicals, eye tests, visiting churches, friends and family, and meeting with the GTM committee. |
| Joseph and Helen Lee (Guatemala) |
|
They are home for their half-year Home Ministry till end of this
year. Praise God that their visit to the Lima Chinese Alliance
Church for their 30th Anniversary was a tremendous joy to both the
church and to themselves. - Praise God for his ongoing work in the
midst of human frailties. Ten students finished well in the final
‘Lay Pastoral Training’ course. Praise the Lord for their
willingness and faithfulness to the end. - Please PRAY that the Lord
will reveal His will to Caleb (their son) as to what career He is
guiding him into, and the next step He has prepared for him. - The
Security Condition in Guatemala continues to deteriorate and the
government has been unable to take control. Members of their church
and other business and professional people have been under
tremendous pressures in their daily living and work, e.g.
kidnapping, assassination, robberies, etc. - PLEASE PRAY MUCH for
Guatemala. -The Global Advance Fund just a few days ago, at the end
of May, was more than HALF A MILLION DOLLARS in deficit. To deal
with this shortfall, the missionary allowance and ministry funds
might be cut, missionary staff might also be cut, and different
fields closed around the world in the long run. Of course new
missionaries could NOT be sent out to the lands where the Gospel is
needed. |
| Mary McElhone (Indonesia) |
|
1) Pray for Mary McElhone as she travels to Bandung to begin
Indonesian language study on August 7. Pray for good health and the
ability to learn quickly. 2) Pray that she will adjust well to living alone as Lois Belsey is now back in Canada for a short home assignment. |
| Bill & Diane Finnemore (Poland) |
|
Bill Finnemore gives praise to God for working through the Christian
Biker’s Club as they ministered at the biker rally in the first
weekend of August.. They had several opportunities to share the love
of God with people who came to visit their tent. Bill was able to
speak with a young man named Marcin (Martin) who was a former
soldier in Afghanistan. Bill gave him a copy of The Purpose Driven
Life (in Polish) with a dedication written in it. The soldier’s face
just lit up, and he gave Bill a big hug. 1. Pray that Jesus will continue to speak to this young man. 2. Pray for Diane as she is mentoring several Polish sisters to take up the responsibility of leading the Women’s Encounter Ministry (evangelistic reaching out to ladies) in their city. Pray that Diane will have wisdom, love and patience. |
