Effective Prayer (from the Christian and Missionary Alliance in Canada)
An inseparable link exists between prayer and fruitful ministry, since it is through our prayers that God has chosen to unleash his power. There are seven ways to help you pray more effectively for Alliance missionaries.

Joseph & Liza Ng, Cambodia
The historic date is April 5th when they held their first Sunday service in the new building. They experienced God’s presence and help during the whole building process even in the final stage. During the very dry season in Cambodia, it rained very heavily on April 1st when they were cleaning up the church building. Then they discovered that there was water accumulated on the church verandah. Because of this, the building contractor was made aware of the insufficient drainage pipes and so they at once rectified the problem. They shared a couple of incidents where they experienced God’s provision and love.
Please pray that
1. God will use this new building to do more outreach work so more people will know Him.
2. God will continue to give them good health and bless their ministries.
3. God will provide the remaining fund needed for the new building.

Daniel & Dominica Lai, Africa
They thank God for the Marakwan (one of the African tribes) New Testament dedication. They also report the activities of several Discovery teams (Short term mission team). One optometrist led a group to help with eye checking for children of the orphanages and schools and 300 pairs of donated glasses were fitted. They also described people were blessed through a Jireh’s fund. A business couple in Hong Kong donated some new shirts and suits to the pastors and Bible translators in Africa. A pastor working in a remote village wrote, “ When Daniel gave me the shirt, he did not know I was in need of one because my only two shirts are worn out. I was in desperate need of a new one and God has used you to bless my life.” Another pastor wrote that the new suit fitted him like a custom-made one and it is the second suit he ever has since 1984 when he got married.
Please pray:
1. That the translation of the prayer book to other languages will be carried out smoothly.
2. For their short home furlough starting in August 2009. They will spend 6 months to promote missions and Daniel will have some speaking engagements at mission conferences in LA and St. Louis. Pray for wisdom and travel mercy.

Joe & Grace Chan, Canada
They praise the Lord for providing some new volunteers to help them with the Chinese Ministries. A couple have been working on re-designing the Chinese section of the Wycliffe Canada website. They are looking for event organizers in major cities to host sessions bringing the Bible translation vision into local Chinese churches. Please contact them at 403-680-9455 if you are interested to find out more about this. Please pray:
1. That God will raise up more partners with existing skills and experience to help the Chinese Ministries of Wycliffe.
2. For God’s healing touch on Grace left knee.
3. For the Calgary Mandarin devotional meeting which will be held on June 18 to 21.

Bill & Ilana Lobbezoo, Cambodia
National Youth Conference was a success this year as 550 young people from churches around the country gathered on a campground for a week-end of fun, fellowship, worship and training. Bill was responsible for leading a seminar for leaders. In March they started an informal worship time held at their girls’ dorm facility. The goal is to reach out to young people who usually do not attend a traditional church service. They had a few visitors from Bill’s university English class and the next meeting will be held in May. Please pray for:
1. Interest and enthusiasm for the monthly informal worship time at the dorm so it will be an effective outreach tools to attract young people.
2. Teams preparing to visit Cambodia this summer in support of the English Camp ministries. Pray for good preparation, health and safety and God’s provision for sacrifices made.
3. Their interaction with the school board regarding fees for the coming year. Pray for favour as they make application for assistance so that the increase in school fees of their girls will be revoked.

Bill & Diane Finnemore, Poland
They praise God for the good meeting they had with the leaders of the Marriage Encounter ministry. They witnessed real unity as they discussed various issues that needed to be addressed. By the end of the meeting they had an action plan with a list of specific things they need to do and who is going to work on what. They praise God that there was a definite sense that God is going to use this ministry further to have an even broader impact. Please pray:
1. That God will continue to guide them so the Marriage Encounter ministry will be successfully transferred to local leadership.
2. For the new Women Encounter ministry and their core group of women that they will grow in their spiritual lives through serving in this outreach ministry and that they will disciple other new Christians.
3. For God’s guidance whether they need to move to another city to start the Marriage Encounter ministry.
