Effective Prayer
(from the Christian and Missionary Alliance in Canada)
∙ An inseparable link exists between prayer and fruitful ministry, since it is through our prayers that God has chosen to unleash his power.
There are seven ways to help you pray more effectively for Alliance missionaries.

Bill & Diane Finnemore, (Poland) |
|
Praise God that 40 guest couples attended their 14th Polish Marriage
Encounter. Seven couples said that they would like to talk to
someone about having a relationship with God. Prayer requests: |
- Pray for each individual who had attended, and for healing in their
marriages. Pray that God will work in their hearts and in their
relationships to draw them closer to faith in Jesus Christ.
- Pray for the couple who has just started to write. Their 5-yr old son
has been suffering with ear infections, and Satan is trying to stop them
from writing.
- Pray for all their children as they transition and make important
choices in life. Pray for wisdom and guidance in every area of their lives:
Paul, Kathryne and baby Samuel in Ottawa, ON; Danielle in Gainsville, GA;
Rachael and Jason in Grande Prairie, AB.
- Pray for the April 18 Marriage Encounter week-end that God will draw
people to Him.

Angus & Carol Chu
(Kenya) |
Students at Ravine Bible College as well as Christian friends are among
thousands of homeless Kenyans who are awaiting safety shelters. Angus and
Carol will attend the 2nd Chinese Missions in Africa – Consultation and
Action 2008 conference in April in Nairobi, Kenya. They will also
participate in the Pre-Conference Missionaries Retreat for Chinese
missionaries working in Africa. Prayer requests:

- Pray for the Christian in Kenya and that they will continue to put
their trust in the All Mighty God. Ask the Lord to help them forgive those
who have persecuted them.
- Pray for the speakers who will speak and lead the workshops in the
conference.
- Pray for the participants – most of them are Chinese Church pastors,
elders, deacons, and mission board leaders.
- Pray for the safety and good health, as well as the ability and
flexibility to adapt and adjust to the new environment, culture, weather,
and food.
- Pray that the goals of the conference will be achieved.

Prayer requests: |
- Pray for Bill and Ilana as they continue to give direction to the
university dorm ministry and the young leaders serving there. Pray that they
will truly understand how to proceed in the coming months.
- Pray for the new National Youth Committee and Bill’s involvement in
providing direction to this group of young men and women. Pray they will
faithfully serve the young ministries around the country. Pray for Bill as
he considers his future with this particular area of ministry.

Praise God for the two men and two women who have been elected to the Board and
have been serving faithfully in the church. They have all finished two years
of lay pastoral training. Mandy, the former board member with cancer has
gone through 4 chemo in HK and has been sustained well. Praise God for the 7
older girls in OASIS orphanage, who have made their first time decision to
accept Christ. Prayer requests: |
- Pray for wisdom and direction in leading the church to
spiritual growth.
- Pray for Jayne preparation to be married July 19 to Bob
Zhu in Vancouver. Pray for Caleb’s applications to post-grad
students in Speech Pathology. Pray for Noelle to know the Lord’s
direction in her life.
- Pray for the extra portions of physical and spiritual
health and strength for each day.

Praise God Lois had a good trip to the lowlands with her visitor,
Mary. Prayer requests: |
- Pray that God will provide Bible-school teachers for a
school in the lowlands.
- Pray she will be able to get her Sunday school books
edited and printed on time for her next trip to Sentani.
- Pray for the STMT from Redwood Park Church in Thunder
Bay, ON arriving May Pray that all the flights and ministry
plans will fall into place as they prepare.
- Pray for good concentration for those who will attend
Lois’ Dani health lessons and Moni Aids lesions.
- Pray that Lois can find some regular helpers for
maintenance of her yards. Pray that the new generator will work
well and efficiently.
- Pray for Mary’s application to become a career missionary
with C&MA in Canada.

Praise God for the STMT from Georgetown Alliance, who put up the
ceiling in the Christian Education Centre in Pointe Noire, and
involved in a prayer walk around the Centre. They went into shops
and homes and prayed for people’s needs.
Anne would like to thank you for giving to Global Advance so that
she can be in Congo. She thanks for partnering with her by giving
and praying. Prayer requests: |
- Pray that God will hear the cry of their hearts and
answer their prayers.
- Pray that God’s spirit will bless and renew all who
attend the retreat in South Africa.

Prayer requests: |
- Pray for Joel and Milcah, their new teammates, who will
help lead the training this week. Pray they will learn quickly
and thoroughly.
- Pray for the housing and the finances for Leok Har, who
retired in November and is coming back to cover the office after
Derek and Bonnie leave and before Larry and Nancy get back.
- Pray for wisdom to know how to take care of the situation
that an engaged couple will be left alone in their house/office
for long hours.

Praise God that Phil is getting a lot better and they are working on
their way back into ministry. They have been asked to go to
Bangalore, India the first week of May to introduce the new Marriage
Uncensored one day seminars for evangelistic outreach in India – a
huge country with over a billion people. Prayer requests: |
- Please pray for their sons, Matt and his fiancé Mischa,
and for Paul and his fiancé Lindsey as they will attend the
FamilyLife 3 days marriage conference in Victoria, B.C. Pray
that Matt & Mischa will take in all the biblical teaching and
that they will put it into practise. Pray especially hard for
Paul & Lindsey, that they will commit their lives to Christ and
that this experience will transform their relationship.

Prayer requests: |
- Pray God for a godly youth pastor for their young people.
Pray that God will lead the worker to accept their offer.
- Pray that God will lead the right people to the summer
camp on Jul 14-18, and direct those preparing for it.
- Pray for more workers and a male worker for their
Mandarin daughter church.

Mike and Maureen Roark, (Cambodia) |
|
God has been their strength as they have readjusted to another
language, intense heat, dangerous traffic, and rapid changing
culture. Mike and Maureen have been going through a time of
spiritual warfare. Mike has suffered from amoeba and a chest
infection. He has now recovered. Prayer requests: |
- Please continue to pray that God will go before them and
enable them to do His will in this dark place.
- Please pray that God will be victor and that the enemy
will flee as Mike and Maureen go through a time of spiritual
warfare.
- Pray for the Buddhist language teacher who permitted them
to study Biblical stories with her but has not been ready to
receive Christ as her Saviour.

Praise God that in the past 3 years, the Okekhom Gospel Church
started from nothing and now they have 40 regular attendees for
Sunday service. There are expansion and new projects that they are
considering: getting more space for Sunday worship and for Sunday
schools and classrooms and facilities for Children’s ministry.
Please pray for: |
- God’s provision for the expansion project.
- Their Phnom Penh church that she will grow strong and is
rooted in God’s Word.
- More workers to serve in Cambodia as they both are no
longer young and energetic.
- More faithful intercessors to pray for their ministries
in Cambodia.

February 10 was a very special highlight for their ministry in Paris
as their new French/Arab pastor was officially installed. The Paris
Chinese church had been actively looking for a French-speaking
pastor for the past two years. Pastor Belkacem’s mission is to
launch pioneer work among the North Africans in the Paris region by
using the Chinese church as a base.
Please pray for: |
- Safety for Dick as he travels to several countries in
April and May.
- Pastor Belkacem and his family’s adjustments living in
Paris and his ministry there.
- Pastor Ho who is taking a three-months study leave in
Hong Kong and his replacement, Pastor Lee and his wife’s
ministry in the Paris church.
- Pastor Dick and Karin’s French visas to be issued before
June 1st, 2008.
