Alliance Women Prayer Items Feb 2008

[Current month]

Prayer Tool (from the Christian and Missionary Alliance in Canada)
An inseparable link exists between prayer and fruitful ministry, since it is through our prayers that God has chosen to unleash his power. There are seven ways to help you pray more effectively for Alliance missionaries.

Joseph and Helen Lee, Guatemala
The lay pastoral training was timely and most profitable. 140 people attended the thanksgiving outreach dinner. For the first time, they celebrated Christmas with the orphans at the orphanage. Please pray for:
  • The board member M who was diagnosed with breast cancer. She is undergoing treatment in Hong Kong. Pray for complete healing and pray for the husband and two sons who are now back in Guatemala.
  • The Vancouver Chinese Alliance Church short-term missions team (Jan 16 – Feb 7) led by a couple that are prospective Second Mile missionaries to Guatemala City/San Salvador.
  • Mary Samame, a former member of the Lima Chinese Alliance Church, who arrived in GC in January to begin her studies. She will be involved in children and teenage ministries at the church. Pray for her adaptation to the country, her studies and ministries.
  • Pray for Art Wiens and the International Work Ministry Team of 9 who will be traveling to Guatemala, February 2-16, to begin construction of a campsite building for the national church in Guatemala. Pray for the well being of this team as they begin this new project.
Phil & Lorry Taylor, Intercultural Outreach
Praise God for helping Phil who went through a huge heart surgery on 21 January. He came home on 28 January.
  • Pray for his speedy recovery.
  • Pray to God for giving Lorry & their family strength during this emotional time.
Wendy Cheung, MSI
  • Pray for Wendy Cheung and Lowana Lee. They will be spending 3 months starting March in Luzhou, practicing pediatrics and rehabilitation. Pray for the trip preparation, safety and that they will build relationships with the locals.
  • Pray for lecture preparation, visa application as well as team unity for 3 medical teams going to Yunnan for serving surgery, general medicine, obstetrics and gynecology.
  • International mobilization meeting will be held in London, U.K. on Feb 27-29. Pray for God’s guidance in calling for more workers, both short & long term mission.
  • In Sichuan the long-term mission workers had Christmas programs for the locals. Pray that people would soften their hearts and make them seekers of Christ.
 Anne Stephens, Congo
After 6 months home assignment, on 6th January she went back to Brazzaville, Congo.
  • Pray for God's anointing on Anne as she teaches a course at the Bible School entitled, "Prayer and Worship."
  • There will be about 15 students attending from across denominational lines. Pray that the Lord will speak to all hearts during this course.
  • Pray for the church elections that are coming up in August. Pray that a man after God's own heart will be elected as president.
David & Fam Griffiths, Thailand
Praise the Lord for financial sufficiency: Mrs Nai Zoy can continue her ministry in the Namlakdai’s Church and her daughter can stay in a Christian hostel and attend a good school. Some money is for supporting the Jarern Sunday School project and the Association’s centre for people to attend seminars & conference. Please pray for:
  • David and other co-workers that they can give advice and directions to the Association committee.
  • Pray that families who had left Mien Association Church could be encouraged to rejoin the church.
Derek & Bonnie Burnett, Thailand
Their Home Assignment will be in July 2008. February 1st Derek has to begin training their new team mates, Joel & Milcah before they leave.
  • Pray to God to bring healing for one couple’s marriage. They are students of Saw Saw Paw.
  • Pray that the leaders and students will regain their passion to study the Word of God for the Saw Saw Paw centres at Roi Et and Borabeu.
  • Pray for Pa Khampong, one of students in Koke Charoen. He has had to stop studying because of his eyes problem.
  • Pray for their son, Jesse (8). A rash has broken out on his body and is spreading all over.
Stephen & Annette Ford, Home Assignment
They are on Home Assignment at Toronto till July 2008. Praise God has wonderfully guided them to a rental home less than a half-kilometer from their present one. Their kids can still walk to their same schools.
Lois Belsey, Indonesia
  • Praise God for her co-worker Mary's safe arrival. Pray for a good transition for Mary as she adjusts to the culture and learns the language.
  • Pray for safety as they plan to leave for the Lowlands on February 4 to distribute medicine and minister to the people there.
Pray for God's solution to the difficult situation in the C&MA Church of Indonesia, Papua branch.
  • The Bilogai war of a year ago has started up again and is going full force. Pray that God's servants will not get involved, except to be a good influence.
Manjohn and Christina Wong, Netherlands
  • Pray for unity in church.
  • Pray that God will give them wisdom and discernment to deal with the problem with the firmness, love and self-control that God provides.
  • Pray for God's direction for the leaders of their youth ministry that they will rely on God's assistance to help them make necessary changes.
