Effective Prayer (from the Christian and Missionary Alliance in Canada)
An inseparable link exists between prayer and fruitful ministry, since it is through our prayers that God has chosen to unleash his power. There are seven ways to help you pray more effectively for Alliance missionaries.

Derek and Bonnie Burnett, Thailand
They remind us to continue praying for the centre leaders who are leading students through their studies to become leaders themselves. Please pray especially for one of the Centres, whose leader is moving away, and where several students are leaving as well. Pray that the Lord will provide a leader for the two students that remain.

Bill and Ilana Lobbezoo, Cambodia
They request prayer that it will be a good year of spiritual growth in the lives of the dorm residents. Praise God that the dorm worship gatherings have been well attended. Please pray for:
• Continued enthusiasm and for a growing passion among the residents to invite their friends as well.
• The New Jerusalem Church Building project—that God will continue to provide the necessary funds for this project. The church plans to move into the new site the beginning of January.

Joe and Liza Ng, Cambodia
They praised God that the church building fund has reached its goal and thank all those who have supported in the project. In early November, there were six young people who got baptized and they thanked God for a short term mission team from Hong Kong helping them with the outreach activities during Christmas. Please pray for:
• The spiritual growth of the new baptized Christians , that they will continue to grow in Christ.
• Joseph’s health: he has recently discovered that he has an 0.5 cm hardened growth on his neck and he is making arrangement for medical help.
• More workers to Cambodia.

Hans and Ruth Fung, Germany
Transformational Educational Services is the organization that Hans is cooperating with. He serves as the Director of School Initiatives and is responsible to start 5 schools in North Africa and another 5 international schools in 5 different parts of the world in the next 5 years. The vision is to start schools in countries by invitation and creative access where education can be a tool to share the gospel.
Please pray for:
• Wisdom for Hans to know where and how to plant schools with a missional purpose.
• Time and discipline for Hans to complete his studies (he is working in a Ed. D. program in Organizational Leadership).
• Strength and balance for Ruth as she runs a household of boys and teaches French at Black Forest Academy.

Calvin and Pearl Lai, Germany
Their December letter is their last letter from Berlin after serving there for 5 ½ years. Their goal is to plant a Chinese church in Berlin to serve as a resource and equipping center to evangelize, equip and send out followers of Christ worldwide, especially those returning to China. They are thankful that they are able to realize this goal. Three years ago, they planted a church from ground zero and now has a steady congregation of about 30 people attending due to the transient nature of the students. John and Hoiling Chan will pastor the church after they return to the U.S. for their retirement. Please continue to pray for this young Chinese Alliance Church in Berlin that it will be used by God to reach out to many Chinese people living in Berlin.
